1866 cover to London endorsed ‘Via Panama’ with a 6d cancelled by the WELLINGTON OC 8 66 ‘070’ duplex canceller. London DE 1 66 arrival cancels are on the front and back. When the mail arrived at St Thomas, Virgin Islands, it was transferred to the S S Seine. Passengers were struck down with Yellow Fever on board and quarantined until their health improved. Mail was taken off at Southampton and forwarded to London. Interesting !!
