S S GERMANIA 1867. The S S Germania a 2123 tons steam ship of the H A P A G line sailed from Hamburg on September 29th and Southampton on October 2nd. Four days out she lost her propeller and had to be towed back to Southampton to have a new propeller fitted, arriving there on October 17th. The repairs were completed on October22nd and she left for New York that day, arriving November 3rd, a journey time of 36 days and a delay of three weeks. A rare cover from this incident less than 3 recorded. (The Germania was wrecked on August 7th 1869 in Newfoundland)
