. 1904 Transvaal 1d envelope to Hobart, Tasmania, with a strip of three and a single Transvaal 1d’s tied by the rare EMBABAAN 19 AUG 04 datestamps. Johannesburg 22 AUG and Hobart 17 SE 04 transit and arrival cancels are on the back. A closed spike hole is through the envelope but this hardly detracts from its’ rarity. Illustrated in Van der Molen’s book on page 359 as an exceptionally rare (RRR) cover, so even with the closed hole, if it’s good and rare enough to be illustrated …….!!
