George Smith, with a Transvaal 6d tied by a concentric circle ‘11’ with a UTRECHT AP 23 79 datestamp alongside. A Petersfield MY 31 79 arrival cancel is on the back. Sgt. George Smith was a defender at Rorkes Drift during the battle on 22-23 January 1879. A fine cover from this soldier.
