1884 outer wrapper to Cape Town bearing a vertical pair of ½d's, paying the 1d printed matter rate, tied by a BLOEMFONTEIN 23 MAY 1884 datestamp. The wrapper is from the STATE PRESIDENT'S office with the official cachet STAATS PRESIDENT ORANJE – VRY STAAT at the right of the wrapper. Part of the back of the wrapper is missing from when it was opened.
