1948 air mail envelope to England from a detainee at Detention Camp 55, bearing four 2pi and a 1pi cancelled KARAOLOS 12 MY 48. The writer, J Piekareryk, has written on the back of the envelope '55 Special Camp'. There were five detention camps at Karaolos, which was near Famagusta. These were camps 55, 60, 61, 62 and 63 and all were built near the beach area. A Famagusta 12 MAY 48 datestamp is on the back of the envelope.
