1881 cover to London with a 4d tied by a ‘bootheel’ cancel with a BARBADOS NO 29 81 cancellation alongside. A London Paid 13 DEC 81 arrival cancel is on the front of the cover. Barbados only joined the UPU on 1 September 1881 and this reduced the rate to England o 4d, in line with other countries. In 1882 the Britannia stamps were replaced by a new issue, so this 4d Britannia used as a single franking was short lived.
