(Bechuanaland Field Force). A KURUMAN JU 26 97 cancel is on the cover which was taxed 2d on arrival in England. Part of the backflap missing so no arrival datestamp. This campaign came about after Chief Galeshewe shot and killed a police office sent to slaughter his cattle after an outbreak of rinderpest. Before the campaign ended, over 3000 soldiers were incorporated into the Bechuanaland Field Force. The campaign, that lasted 9 months and ended at the end of July 1897, is sometimes known as the Galeshewe or Rinderpest Campaign. A rare cover from this war.
