MAIL ROBBERY. 1978 cover, cheque and postmaster’s letter that was on a train where a mail bag was robbed. The thieves, on only finding a cheque inside, threw the cover out into a ditch full of water near Worplesdon. The cover was addressed to Guildford and Worpleston is 3 miles away. An explanatory letter states the stolen mail was recovered by the police.
