1861 letter to Tasmania headed Port Louis March 9 1861 that was carried privately by ship to Melbourne where the forwarding agents Flower McDonald & Co affixed a rouletted 6d bright blue (SG 73) and entered the letter into the postal system. The stamp has been cancelled with a barred ‘1’ obliterator of MELBOURNE with an AP 22 61 dispatch cancel on the back. A red diamond SHIP LETTER INWARDS FREE 25 AP 1861 arrival cancel is on the back. Fine and very unusual.
