1911 CALIFORNIA / UTAH. A picture post card to Butte, Montana, that was in an, as yet, unidentified train wreck on MAY 4 1911. The card has a red three line cachet ‘Damaged in wreck of / S, L, C & LA, Tr,. 2 MAY 4’. The stamp has been washed off by water, possibly indicating the train may have fallen into a river or lake. Two different cachets are recorded for this train wreck. The incident probably happened in either California or Utah as it was the Salt Lake and Los Angeles Train 2 that was involved. Fine and very uncommon, very few recorded.
