1939 censored cover sent air mail to the U.S.A. with a 24c cancelled G.P.O. PORT OF SPAIN SP 4 39. (The 2nd day after war was declared and the first day of mail acceptance as September 3rd was a Sunday) The cover was opened and resealed by the censor with brown OPENED BY CENSOR tape and a violet PASSED BY POSTAL CENSOR cachet. (Miller CL 0C and CH 4a) A fine and very early cover mailed after the outbreak of WW II showing how prepared the country was for war!
